Site Updates
August 7, 2002There's not a whole lot of news about David's work behind the lens. Full Frontal, in which he stars, is playing in select markets. If you are lucky enough to be in one of those places, go see it. If you are like me, in "Pottersville" (as some of us call it), you may have to wait until the DVD comes out. I haven't heard when or if it will get wide release. (If anyone knows, please e-mail me.) David did say on Howard Stern's radio show last week that he has been writing. In fact, he's been writing from 9 to 5 most days. Also, Two on Two is still on track for airing on TNN. Other than that, there's not much else to report... except...

Two on Two news:
There's news about the basketball-reality show that David is executive producing for TNN. Go to the Two on Two Official Site for information, especially if you're pretty good at basketball and are considering trying out. All entries are due by July 12th. The show sounds really interesting.
My Dark Places:
David will soon be acting in a new movie based on James Ellroy's autobiographical book, My Dark Places. Cathy at Chimerical has some great information about this movie and some script parts that (WARNING!) contain spoilers. Also, this is dark stuff--- it deals with Ellroy's investigation of his own mother's death. Here's the imdb info about it (although there's not a lot there, yet). And, here's the blurb from Entertainment Weekly about it:
"He spent years playing a guy investigating his sister's disappearance. Now, ''X-Files'' star David Duchovny will play a man investigating his mother's murder. He'll star as hard-boiled crime novelist James Ellroy in ''My Dark Places,'' an adaptation of the ''L.A. Confidential'' author's memoir about his effort to solve the mystery of his mother's 1958 slaying, some four decades after the fact. ''I was 46 when I reinvestigated my mother's murder, and it's odd to see someone who doesn't resemble me physically in the least playing me,'' Ellroy tells Variety. ''But I met David for the first time... on Saturday, and he impressed me as a sharp and alert guy. I've no doubt he can pull it off.'' Director Robert Greenwald (''Steal This Movie'') will shoot the film in Los Angeles in June...."

It's a boy!!!!!!!
I know this is a little off topic (it's not technically about David's
work), but it is such good news. I couldn't help myself!
From E Online:
Duchovny, Leoni Spawn Sequel
by Josh Grossberg Jun 17, 2002, 2:20 PM PT
David Duchovny and Téa Leoni have conspired once again.
The star of the recently extinct X-Files star and his actress wife of five
years celebrated the birth of a brand spanking new baby boy over the weekend,
their publicist has confirmed. Presumably no alien DNA was involved. The
child--whose name wasn't disclosed by the couple--was born Saturday in Los
Angeles, weighing in at a healthy 7 pounds, 10 ounces. The tyke is the second in
the Duchovny-Leoni clan, joining three-year-old sister Madelaine West. Duchovny
has some time to play dad now that he's officially wrapped The X-Files,
reprising his role as alien-seeking Agent Fox "Spooky" Mulder one last
time for the series' finale last month. Aside from diaper duty, Duchovny is
slated to begin work this month on My Dark Places, a film version of novelist
James Ellroy's memoir focusing on his search to solve his mother's murder. The
actor, whose uneven film career includes Evolution, Zoolander and Return to Me,
is also said to be on board for the next X-Files movie, if and when that gets
off the drawing board. Next up, Duchovny will star opposite Julia Roberts in
Steven Soderbergh's Full Frontal, due out August 2. For Leoni, meanwhile, the
birth was better than any Hollywood Ending. In addition to the recent Woody
Allen film, which did middling box office, the leggy blonde--who also has films
like Flirting with Disaster, Deep Impact, The Family Man and Jurassic Park III
to her credit--will be seen in People I Know, a drama costarring Al Pacino and
Kim Basinger and scheduled to be released later this year.

And... last, but definitely not least... My own thank you to David: Thank you for nine years of great acting as Agent Fox Mulder. What a ride! Thanks, especially, for The Unnatural, Hollywood A.D., and William. Your episodes were such treats! And all three offered intriguing insight into the characters of Mulder, Scully, and Skinner. I hope they allowed you to "cut your teeth" so we can see much more of your writing and directing skills soon. I wish you much success and happiness in the future!
